The lightness and poetry of Cesare Picco, Italy

12 Sep 2010
THE ARTS HOUSE

Co-Presented by Arsmedia and The Arts House In Collaboration With Italian Cultural Institute

The poetry, beautiful melodies and profound spirituality in Cesare Picco’s music come to life in this one-night only solo piano concert, PIANOPIANO. As part of his PIANOPIANO Concert Tour 2010: The Eastern Part, which will take him to Tokyo and Hanoi, Picco will present his first-ever concert in Singapore with works from his 2009 album.

His vast repertoire and real improvisations make each concert unique and unrepeatable. PIANOPIANO retraces some of the defining moments in Picco’s artistic journey. Marrying the modernity of Bach with Jazz’s classicism, Picco displays lightness and poetry in his music, as he travels through unusual roads driven by his constant search for the purity and precision in music. About Cesare Picco Born in 1969, Cesare Picco is a multitalented piano composer and improvisator. An author of ballets, operas and special projects, he has been performing worldwide since 1986. In 1999 he wrote Il Viaggio di Hans for the Arena di Verona. Since 2000, he has composed three ballets for Luciana Savignano, with whom he has been performing since 2007 at the Teatro La Scala di Milano.

He has collaborated with artists from all over the world, including Giovanni Sollima, Yukimi Nagano, Markus Stockhausen, Taketo Gohara, and Andrea Bocelli. In 2007 he published Back to Me, a personal interpretation of Bach’s 5° Brandenburg concert performed with the Berlin Chamber Soloists.

In 2009, he performed in Italy the world premiere of Blind Date - Concert in the Dark, a solo piano concert performed in complete darkness. He is now taking this concert to Tokyo in September 2010. He released the PIANOPIANO album in November 2009.
